Benjamin was born in April 1803 in Bolton and his christening took place on May 1st, 1803 at Peel Chapel.1 2  Benjamin's father was Joseph Allen and his mother was Sarah Carter.  His paternal grandparents were John Allen and Ellen Welsby. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Benjamin, William, Joseph, George, John, George, Elizabeth, Sarah and Jane.  He was the fourth oldest of the ten children.  He died at 7 months old in November 1803 in Bolton.  His burial was on November 18th, 1803 at St. Peter's (Bolton).3
