Richard Whitling

Richard was born in 1818 and his christening took place on August 23rd, 1818 in Burneston, Yorkshire.  Richard's father was John Whitling and his mother was Mary Couldwell.  His paternal grandparents were John Whitling and Ann Snarey; his maternal grandparents were Richard Couldwell and Jane Hesseltine. He had two brothers and six sisters, named John, Henry, Jane, Emma, Marianne, Eliza, Harriet and Rebecca.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
