John Whitling

John was born in 1816 and his christening took place on June 19th, 1816 in Burneston, Yorkshire.  John's father was John Whitling and his mother was Mary Couldwell.  His paternal grandparents were John Whitling and Ann Snarey; his maternal grandparents were Richard Couldwell and Jane Hesseltine. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Richard, Henry, Jane, Emma, Marianne, Eliza, Harriet and Rebecca.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.
