Jay Simmons 
Jay was born in February 1882 in Van Buren Co, TN. Jay's father was Charles Taylor Simmons and his mother was Jane 'Jennie' Phifer. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Lewis Simmons Sr. and Nancy Caroline Beatty. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Eusebius Monroe, Joe J., Charles Evans, Foster Victor, Caroline L. C. Mollie, Nancy Elsie, Bettie Elizabeth and Jennie Lucinda. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.General Notes
