Marion Karen was born in 1836 in Rockingham Co, NC.1 Marion Karen's father was John Roberts and her mother was Minerva Thomas. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Roberts and Sarah Joyce. She had six brothers and a sister, named Thomas, William M., Jackson, Jones Washington, John B., Pleasant Harvey and Sarah. She was the third oldest of the eight children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Thomas and Daughter.1 General Notes
