Sarah Pernease was born on May 1st, 1845 in Beaufort Co., SC.1 Sarah Pernease's father was Allen Nelson Dean and her mother was Anne Peeples. Her paternal grandparents were Allen Jones Dean and Sarah Thial; her maternal grandfather was Henry Peeples. She had five brothers and five sisters, named William Henry, Jesse Barnwell, James Allen, Oliver Nelson, John Hansford, Eliza Sophnonia, Rachel Salena, Ann Elizabeth, Mary Rebecca and Martha Penelope. She was the second oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 78 on January 2nd, 1924 in Savannah, Chatham Co., GA. She was buried in Ridgeland, Jasper Co., SC.1 1 General Notes
