Mary Rebecca was born on January 19th, 1857 in Beaufort Co., SC.1 Mary Rebecca's father was Allen Nelson Dean and her mother was Anne Peeples. Her paternal grandparents were Allen Jones Dean and Sarah Thial; her maternal grandfather was Henry Peeples. She had five brothers and five sisters, named William Henry, Jesse Barnwell, James Allen, Oliver Nelson, John Hansford, Eliza Sophnonia, Sarah Pernease, Rachel Salena, Ann Elizabeth and Martha Penelope. She was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.1 -
