Bowater was born on March 22nd, 1802. Bowater's father was Jacob+ Beals and his mother is Mary+ Horton. His paternal grandparents were Bowater+ Beals and Sarah Ann+ Cook; his maternal grandparents were Abraham+ Horton and Martha Brissell+ Williams.
