Nathan Bales 
Nathan was born on November 2nd, 1800. Nathan's father was Jacob+ Beals and his mother is Mary+ Horton. His paternal grandparents were Bowater+ Beals and Sarah Ann+ Cook; his maternal grandparents were Abraham+ Horton and Martha Brissell+ Williams. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Asa, Bowater, Asenath, Anna and Martha P.+. He is the third youngest of the six children.General Notes

Jim Bales at jimbales@@vtc.net who has generously provided his documentation for me. He states in his e-mail to me on 06/10/04 that "Nathan changed his name to BALES. I have an old family tree that was written in 1950. From what I could find out, Nathan's family were all Quakers, and he supposedly married out of the faith and was disavowed, so he changed his name." Jim states, however, that he is still researching to verify this.
