Princess Bertha Meroving of the Franks

Bertha was born in June 0779 in Aachen, Prussia. Bertha's father was Emperor Charlemagne of the Holy Roman Empire and her mother was Hildegarde of Vinzgau. Her paternal grandparents were King Pepin ("the Short") III Martel and Bertrada ("the Younger/Au Grand Pied", "big foot") II of Laon; her maternal grandparents were Duke Gerold I of Swabia and Duchess Emma von Swabia of Vinzgau. She had three brothers and two sisters, named "the Younger", "the Pious", "the Hunchback", Rotrude and Alpaid. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Hugo, Dhoude Liegarde and Hiltrud. She died at the age of 43 on January 14th, 0823.
