Nithard, known as "the Chronicler", was born in Ponthieu, France.  "the Chronicler"'s father was Seigneur Angilbert ("the Saint") de Ponthieu and his mother was Princess Bertha Meroving of the Franks.  His paternal grandfather is Nithard Martel d'Heristal and his paternal grandmother was Richarde; his maternal grandparents were Emperor Charlemagne of the Holy Roman Empire and Hildegarde of Vinzgau. He had a brother and two sisters, named Hardouin, Arsinde and Berthe.


"the Chronicler"'s family

‌"the Chronicler" were married in a religious ceremony about 0804 in Montreuil-sous-Bois, Seine-St-Denis, France.  He had a biological son named Heligaud.
