Robert Thomas was born on March 24th, 1831 in Appomattox Co., VA.1 Robert Thomas' father was Thomas Robert Jenkins and his mother was Martha Booker Fore. His paternal grandfather was Obadiah Jenkins and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Young; his maternal grandfather was James Fore and his maternal grandmother is Sarah Elizabeth HURT. He had five brothers and six sisters, named William Hurt, John Reuben, Joseph Scott, Lafayette Rosser, George Washington, Sarah Ellen, Mary Ann Booker, Catherine Barnett, Martha Susan, Pauline Annette and America Virginia. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 68 on August 21st, 1899 in Patrick, Kanawha Co., WV. He was buried in Kanawha Two Mile, Kanawha Co., WV.1 1 General Notes
