His paternal grandfather was Obadiah Jenkins and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Young; his maternal grandfather was James Fore and his maternal grandmother is Sarah Elizabeth HURT. He had five brothers and six sisters, named William Hurt, John Reuben, Robert Thomas, Joseph Scott, George Washington, Sarah Ellen, Mary Ann Booker, Catherine Barnett, Martha Susan, Pauline Annette and America Virginia. He was the fourth youngest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 58 on October 29th, 1900 in Kanawha Co., WV. He was buried in Jenkins Cemetary Sissonville Rd Charleston WV.1 1 -
