Matilda was born about 1192 in Pembroke, Wales and her baptism took place in September 1201.1   Matilda's father was William The Protector' Marshall and her mother was Isabel Fitzgilbert De Clare.  Her paternal grandparents were John "The Marshall" FitzGilbert and Sibylle De Salisbury; her maternal grandparents were Richard De Clare and Eva MacMurrough. She had four sisters named Eve, Isabella, Joane and Sibyl.  She was the oldest of the five children.  She died on March 27th, 1248.  She was buried in Tintern Abbey, Chapel Hill, Monmouthshire, England.1 1 


Matilda's first family with Hugh Le Bigod

‌Matilda and Hugh Le were married in a religious ceremony in 1207 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.1   They had a daughter named Isabel.


Matilda's second family with William De Warrenne

‌Matilda and William were married in a religious ceremony in 1225.1   They had a son named John Plantagenetde.
