Ilbert was born in 1022.1 Ilbert's father was Payn De Freteval and his mother was Adierne De Montdoubleau. His paternal grandparents were Nivelon and Ermentrude; his maternal grandparents were Seigneur Of Montdoubleau Odo and Placentia De Montoire. He was an only child.
