John "The Marshall" was born about 1105 in Of Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.1   John "The Marshall"'s father was Gilbert FitzRichard De Clare and his mother was Adeliza De Clermont.  His paternal grandparents were Richard De Tonbridge De Clare Fitzgilbert and Rohese Giffard; his maternal grandparents were Hugues Ier De Clermont and Marguerite De Roucy. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Baldwin Fitzgilbert, Gilbert, Hervey Walter, Richard FitzGilbert Of Hertford, Adeliza (Alice), Agnes, Margaret, Rohesia and Isabel Fitz Richard. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Walter, Richard Fitzgilbert, Bouchard, Adeliza (Alice) and Agnes.  He died about 1165.1 


John "The Marshall"'s family with Sibylle De Salisbury

‌John "The Marshall" and Sibylle were married in a religious ceremony after 1141 in Pembroke, Wales.1   They had two sons and a daughter, named John, William The Protector' and Margaret Fitz Gilbert.
