His paternal grandparents were Renaud De Roucy and Alberade de Lorraine; his maternal grandparents were Duke Of Aquitaine William and Adele Princess of Normandy. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Nétard Ier Ou Lieutaud, Ebles, Seigneur Of Marle, Yvette and Judith. He was the third oldest of the six children.
