with Hildouin who occurs in 1031. It is probable that the two earlier genera-
tions are correct, however, & as stated by Winkhaus in his additions -AVESNE
HILDOUIN II, Son of HILDOUIN I and ?: Hildouin II, an adherent of Eudes [C. of Champagne], occurs
in 1025, when he represented Eudes in his accord with Francon (?) [Bp. of Paris], regarding the advowson of Rozoy-en-Brie [L. Lex, "Eudes, Comte de Blois" in MEM. DE LA SOC. ACADEMIQUE DE L'AUBE
(1894), p.294, no.37]. He witnessed a charter of Eudes
between 1033-1037 [B. Guerard, CARTULARY DE ST.
PERE DE CHARTRES, vol. I, p.125]. His brother Manasser, who fell with Count Eudes at Ornel, 15 Nov 1037, was Count of Dammartin. Hildouin II was succeeded by his son, Hildouin III, who married
Adela, daughter and co-heiress of Ebles I [C. of Roucy].
