H. Moranville in a paper entitled "Origine de la Mairon de Ramerupt-Roucy,"
inBIBLIOTHEQUE L'ECOLE DE CHARTRES, vol. 86 (1925), pp.168-84, in which he
shows that the first known ancestor was not Hildouin, usually styled 'I' and
great-grandfather of Hildouin who married the heiress of Roucy, but a certain
Helpuin, brother of Hildouin C. of Montdidier], which Helpuin maried Hersinde
[C. of Areio-sur-Auba [and] Dame de Romeru]. Hersinde, widow of Helpuin,
brother of Hilduin [C. of Montdidier], gave the comte of Arles (?) to her son,
Hildouin, and kept the seigneurie of Romeru until her death, and in accord
with her eldest son she built a church within the chateau, where she placed
the relics of St. Baurange, about 970 [Nicholas Camuzat, "Promptuarium
