Walter De Clare

Walter was born about 1086.¹ Walter's father was Gilbert FitzRichard De Clare and his mother was Adeliza De Claremont. His paternal grandparents were Richard De Tonbridge De Clare Fitzgilbert and Rohese Giffard; his maternal grandparents were Hugh (Creil Mouchy) Of Clermont and Margaret (De Roucey) De Montdidier. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Baldwin Fitzgilbert, Gilbert, Richard Fitzgilbert, Margaret, Rohesia, Adeliza (Alice) and Agnes. He had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Hervey Walter, John "The Marshall", Richard FitzGilbert Of Hertford, Geoffrey, Herve, Adeliza (Alice), Agnes and Isabel Fitz Richard.¹
