Edmund was born in 1250 in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England and his baptism took place in 1304.1 Edmund's father was Roger De Mortimer and his mother was Maud De Braiose. His paternal grandparents were Ralph De Mortimer and Gwladys Dhu; his maternal grandparents were William De Braiose and Eve Marshall. He had a sister named Isabella. He was the younger of the two children. He died at the age of 54 on July 17th, 1304 in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England. He was buried in Wigmore, Hereford, England.1 1 General Notes

EDMUND DE MORTIMER, son of ROGER DE MORTIMER and MAUD DE BRAOSE, was the 2nd son, succ. his father. He was b. ante 1250 and had livery of his inheritance 24 Nov 1282. Three weeks later Prince
Llewellyn was killed at Builth in a chance encounter;
Mortimer identified the body and took the head to the King, who sent it to London where it was displayed on a spike at the Tower. Mortimer had numerous military and political duties and commissions,
1283-1301. Became Lord Mortimer by baronial writ in
1295, and had livery of his mother's lands in 1301. He m. c1285 Margaret de Fienes, dau of Sir William de Fienes and Blanche de Brienne; Margaret was 2nd cousin of Eleanor of Castile (wife of
Edward I). Edmund d. 17 Jul 1304; bur. at Wigmore. His
widow received the castle of Radnor as her dower, but this was considered provocative after her son was attainted, and the King ordered her moved from one nunnery to another.
