Hugh de Mortimer succeeded his brother. Henry II, on attaining the throne in Dec 1154, demanded certain Mortimer lands, which demand was refused. The King destroyed or confiscated several Mortimer strongholds over several years. Hugh was the principal benefactor of the Templars in Lincolnshire...Hugh d. between Michaelmas 1180 and Michaelmas 1181.
