Mary Elizabeth Spradley 
Mary Elizabeth was born on October 31st, 1828 in Kershaw Dist., SC.1 Mary Elizabeth's father was Bryant A. Spradley and her mother was Frances Payne. Her paternal grandparents were James, Sr. Spradley and Mary Manning; her maternal grandparents were John Payne and Sarah Shiver. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named James Stephen, John William, Samuel, Manning C., Bryant Eugene, William, Thomas Harrison, Martha A., Dorcas and Mahaza Ellen. She was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 71 on May 18th, 1900 in Parker Township, Nevada Co., AR. She was buried in Ebenezer Cemetery, Nevada Co., AR.1 1 General Notes

Some records indicate that she may have been the daughter of Bryant

Mary Elizabeth SPRADLEY, as I'm sure you know, is an ancestor of President
Clinton, and several things have been published (for example, in NEXUS,
put
out by the New England Historical and Genealogical Society) stating as you
did that she was a daughter of Warren C. SPRADLEY. I must disagree!
Her tombstone states that she was born 31 Oct 1828, and she gave her ages
in federal censuses as 22 in 1850, 31 in 1860, 42 in 1870, and 51 in 1880.
>From these facts, we must assume that she would appear in the 1830 and
1840
censuses with her father among the females born 1825-30. No such person
appears in Warren SPRADLEY's household in either year!

Note however, that in Bryant SPRADLEY's household in both 1830 and 1840,
there is one female child born between 1825 and 1830, who must be Mary
Elizabeth, as no other known female SPRADLEY in this area was born within
those years. Furthermore, Mary Elizabeth and her husband William James
RUSSELL appear in the 1860 Butler Co., AL census less than 30 households
from Bryant, Manning, and Samuel SPRADLEY, her presumed father and
brothers. [Admittedly, they were even closer to Warren in the 1850
Montgomery Co. federal census (19 households apart), but Bryant does not
appear in that census, apparently having been missed, so proximity
comparisons are hard to make. Both Warren and Bryant DO appear in an 1850
state census of Montgomery Co., however (Warren on p. 12 and Bryant on p.
13) so if she lived close to Warren in 1850, she apparently lived close to
Bryant then also.]

reflected by these lists, which better reflect the census records:
