1870 US Census for Coosa County, Alabama, Rockford District, dated 3rd
August shows Mahala Shaw living alone with the following children:

F.D. (Frank David)
Mary Catherine is missing and Hugh is in Mississippi. The father,
Thomas Calhoun has failed to return from the war and presumed to have
been killed in action.
1880 US Census of Coosa County, Alabama, Rockford District, no longer
lists Mahala Shaw, so it is presumed she has died.
Ron, Just heard from Jackie.....Samuel Logan was the father.....Catherine
Logan was on the 1870 / 80 census in colfax co La......in the home of
