Elizabeth Shaw 
Elizabeth was born about 1847 in Coosa Co., AL.1 Elizabeth's father was Thomas Calhoun, Sr. Shaw and her mother was Mahala Logan. Her paternal grandparents were Hugh Shaw and Elizabeth Finley; her maternal grandparents were Henry Logan and Martha Ann George. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Hugh, Thomas Calhoun, Jr., William James, Frank David, Mary Catherine, M. Eliza and Amanda. She was the second oldest of the eight children. Elizabeth Shaw remained single and helped her brother Wiliam to take care
of her younger brothers and sisters after her mother, Mahala Logan Shaw,
died. She lived with them until she was in her seventies and later
entered the "Old Folks Home". While living there she met and later
married Will Forbes. Due to their advanced years, they had no children
together. Much credit should be given to Elizabeth and William for
keeping the family together after Mahala's death. They lived on the
family farm with her being the housekeeper while William and the other
children tilling the land on which they lived. Life could not have been
easy for them.
