Gone to His Reward
James A. Logan, and old and highly esteemed citizen of this county,
after suffering for several days from a stroke of paralysis breathed his
last at his home six mile north of Rockford on Monday the 25th inst.
Mr. Logan was a man of more than ordinary intelligence, an omnivorous
reader and profound thinker. He was a Confederate soldier and wore the
gray with honor to himself and country. He was a good neighbor, a kind
husband and father. And although he has passed his three score and ten he
had, up to the time of his recent affliction, been active in daily walks
of life.
The remains were interred in the cemetery at Andrew Chapel Church, of
which he had long been a member.(5)
