Eleanor was born on October 12th, 1292 in Caerphilly Castle, Glamorganshire, Wales.  Eleanor's father was Sir Gilbert the Red de Earl of Gloucester and her mother was Joan of Acre Plantagenet Cts de Gloucester.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard de Clare Earl of Gloucester & Hertford and Maude de Lacy Cts de Lincoln; her maternal grandparents were Edward I Longshanks King of England and Eleanora de Castile Cts de Ponthieu. She had a brother and two sisters, named Gilbert de Clare, Margaret and Elizabeth. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Thomas de Monthermer, Edward de Montthermer, Isabella, Joan, Mary and Joan.  She died at the age of 44 on June 30th, 1337.


Eleanor's first family with Hugh le Despenser the Younger Lord Despenser

‌Eleanor and Hugh le Despenser the Younger were married in a religious ceremony in May 1306 in Westminster, England.  They had three sons and two daughters, named Hugh, Gilbert, Sir Edward, Isabel and Elizabeth.


Eleanor's second family with Sir William la Zouche Lord Zouche de Mortimer

‌Eleanor and Sir William la Zouche were married in a religious ceremony in 1327.
