Matilda was born in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Matilda's father was Sir Richard FitzRoger de Earl of Hertford and her mother was Amicia FitzRobert Cts de Gloucester. Her paternal grandparents were Roger de Clare the Good Earl of Hertford and Maud de St. Hilary. She had two brothers named Richard (Roger) and Gilbert de Clare. She died in 1213.-
