Adelaide was born in 1094. Adelaide's father was Baldwin II OF HAINAULT and her mother was Ida OF LOUVAIN. Her paternal grandparents were Count Baldwin VI "The Peaceable" And Artois OF FLANDERS and Countess Richilda And Namur OF HAINAULT; her maternal grandparents were Duke/Count/ Henry OF BRABANT Henrik II and Adelaide OF THE BETUWE. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Baldwin III, Arnulph, Ida and Alice.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
