William de Ferrers VI Baron Ferrers of Groby 
William de Ferrers VI was born in Newbold Verdon, Leicestershire. William de Ferrers VI's father was Henry de Ferrers Baron Ferrers of Groby and his mother was Isabella de Verdon. His paternal grandparents were Sir William de Ferrers Baron Ferrers of Groby and Margaret (Ellen) de Segrave; his maternal grandparents were Theobald de Verdon Lord Westmeath and Elizabeth de Clare. He had a brother and two sisters, named Sir Ralph, Elizabeth and Philippa. He died in Stebbing.General Notes
William de Ferrers, 3rd Baron Ferrers, of Groby, summoned to parliament from 15 March, 1354, to 6 April, 1369. In the 29th Edward III [1356], his lordship was in the expedition then made into France in the retinue of his father-in-law, Robert de Ufford, Earl of Suffolk; and again, in the 33rd and 34th [1360 and 1361], in the latter of which years, his lands in Ireland being seized for the defence of that realm, the king directed his precept to the justice, chancellor and treasurer there, to discharge them, in consequence of his lordship being then in the wars of France with divers men-at-arms and archers, at a very considerable expense. His lordship m. 1st, Margaret, dau. and co-heir of Robert de Ufford, Earl of Suffolk, by whom he had issue, Henry, his successor; Elizabeth, a nun in the convent of Minoresses-without, Aldgate; and Margaret, m. to Thomas Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick. He m. 2ndly, Margaret, dau of Henry, 2nd Lord Percy, and widow of Robert, son and heir of Gilbert de Umfravill, Earl of Angus, and dying in 1372, was s. by his son, Henry Ferrers, 4th Baron Ferrers of Groby.
