Joan (Anne) was born about 1252.  Joan (Anne)'s father was Hugh le Despenser II Lord Falmouth Justiciar and her mother was Aliva Basset.  Her paternal grandfather was Sir Hugh le Despenser; her maternal grandparents were Sir Philip Basset Lord Basset of Wycombe and Hawise de Louvaine. She had a brother and a sister, named Hugh le Despenser the Elder and Eleanor.  She died about 1322.
