Anne's father was Sir William de Ferrers IV of Groby and her mother was Joan (Anne) le Despenser. Her paternal grandparents were William de Ferrers III Earl of Derby and Margaret de Quincy; her maternal grandparents were Hugh le Despenser II Lord Falmouth Justiciar and Aliva Basset. She had a brother named Sir William de Ferrers. She had two half-sisters named Maud and Sarah.-
