Aliva was born in 1241 in Wooten Basset, Wiltshire, England.  Aliva's father was Sir Philip Basset Lord Basset of Wycombe and her mother was Hawise de Louvaine.  Her paternal grandparents were Alan Basset Lord Basset of Wycombe and Aline (Alvira) de Grey; her maternal grandparents were Sir Matthew de Louvaine and Muriel (de Louvaine). She had a sister named Margery.  She died about April 11th, 1281.

‌Aliva and Hugh le Despenser II were married in a religious ceremony before 1260.  They had a son and two daughters, named Hugh le Despenser the Elder, Joan (Anne) and Eleanor.


Aliva's second family with Roger le Bigod Earl of Norfolk

‌Aliva and Roger le Bigod were married in a religious ceremony before October 29th, 1271.
