Henry de Ferrers was born in Groby, Leicestershire. Henry de Ferrers' father was Sir William de Ferrers Baron Ferrers of Groby and his mother was Margaret (Ellen) de Segrave. His paternal grandparents were Sir William de Ferrers IV of Groby and Joan (Anne) le Despenser; his maternal grandparents were John de Segrave Baron Segrave and Christiana de Plessetis. He had a brother and a sister, named Thomas and Anne. He died on September 15th, 1343 in Groby, Leicestershire.General Notes
Henry, 2nd Baron Ferrers, of Groby, summoned to parliament from 5 June, 1331, to 20 November, 1342. This nobleman, being actively engaged in the wars of King Edward III, both in Scotland and France, acquired very large territorial possessions by grant from the crown for his services. His lordship m. Isabel, 4th dau. and co-heir of Theobald, 2nd Lord Verdon, and in the 5th Edward III [1332], upon doing homage, had livery of the lands of her inheritance lying in Ireland. Of this marriage there were issue, William, Ralph, Philippa, and Elizabeth. His lordship d. in 1343, and was s. by his son, William Ferrers, 3rd Baron Ferrers, of Groby.
