John was born about 1440 in Earlshill,Aberdeenshire,Scotland.1   John's father was Sir James (The Black Knight Of Lorn) Stewart and his mother was Joan (AKA DeBeaufort) De Beaufort.  His paternal grandparents were Lord John Stewart Of Lorn & Innermeath and Heiress Isabel MacDougal Of Lorn; his maternal grandparents were Marquis John (Fairborn) De Beaufort Of Dorset, Earl Of Somerset and Lady Margaret De Holland. He had a brother named Hearty. He had two half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Alexander, James II, Margaret, Isabelle, Eleanor, Joan, Anabella Jean and Mary.  He died on September 15th, 1512 in Balvenie Castle,Glen Fiddich,Fifeshire,Scotland.1 


John's first family with Eleanor Sinclair

‌John and Eleanor were married in a religious ceremony on April 19th, 1475 in Bothwell,Lanarkshire,Scotland.  They had six sons and two daughters, named Alexander, Archibald, James, John, Robert, William, Elizabeth Jean and Janet Elizabeth.


John's second family with Margaret Douglas

They had a daughter named Margaret.
