James, known as The Black Knight Of Lorn, was born about 1394 in Innermeath,Argyllshire,Scotland.  The Black Knight Of Lorn's father was Lord John Stewart Of Lorn & Innermeath and his mother was Heiress Isabel MacDougal Of Lorn.  His paternal grandparents were Lord Robert Stewart Of Innermeath and Margaret; his maternal grandparents were Laird, Chief Eoin (John) MacDougal Of Clan Dougall and Joanna Mac Isaac. He had a brother and two sisters, named Robert, Christian and Isabel.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died after 1451 in Captured at sea by Flemish & put to death.

‌The Black Knight Of Lorn and AKA DeBeaufort were married in a religious ceremony before September 21st, 1439 in St Andrews,Fifeshire,Scotland.1   They had two sons named John and Hearty.
