Robert was born about 1379 in Lorn,Argyllshire,Scotland. Robert's father was Lord John Stewart Of Lorn & Innermeath and his mother was Heiress Isabel MacDougal Of Lorn. His paternal grandparents were Lord Robert Stewart Of Innermeath and Margaret; his maternal grandparents were Laird, Chief Eoin (John) MacDougal Of Clan Dougall and Joanna Mac Isaac. He had a brother and two sisters, named The Black Knight Of Lorn, Christian and Isabel. He was the second youngest of the four children. He died before 1449 in Lorn,Argyllshire,Scotland.1 General Notes
Robert Stewart, 1st Lord of Lorn, so created by 5 Sep 1439 as one of the new Lords of Parliament following the 1428 Act distinguishing Lords from the ordinary Lairds in the Scots Baronage; a Commissioner to England for the release of James I 1421 and hostage for latter's ransom 1424, one of the peers who tried and condemned the ex-Regent Albany 1425; married (papal despensation 27 Sep 1397) Joan Stewart, daughter of Robert, 1st Duke of Albany, Regent of Scotland, and died c1449.
