Robert was born about 1379 in Lorn,Argyllshire,Scotland.  Robert's father was Lord John Stewart Of Lorn & Innermeath and his mother was Heiress Isabel MacDougal Of Lorn.  His paternal grandparents were Lord Robert Stewart Of Innermeath and Margaret; his maternal grandparents were Laird, Chief Eoin (John) MacDougal Of Clan Dougall and Joanna Mac Isaac. He had a brother and two sisters, named The Black Knight Of Lorn, Christian and Isabel.  He was the second youngest of the four children.  He died before 1449 in Lorn,Argyllshire,Scotland.1

‌Robert and Joan were married in a religious ceremony on September 27th, 1397 in Dispensation date.1   They had a son and a daughter, named John and Miss.
