John was born about 1400 in Lorn,Argyllshire,Scotland. John's father was Baron Robert Stewart Of Lorn and his mother was Joan Stewart. His paternal grandparents were Lord John Stewart Of Lorn & Innermeath and Heiress Isabel MacDougal Of Lorn; his maternal grandparents were Duke Robert Stewart Of Albany and Countess Margaret Graham Of Menteith. He had a sister named Miss. He was the older of the two children. He died on December 20th, 1463 in Dunstaffnage Castle,Argyllshire,Scotland (died of wounds).1 General Notes

John Stewart, 2nd Lord of Lorn; called "Muireach" ("The Lepe"); married 1st ?; allegedly married 2nd on his deathbed (a marriage not recognised) a daughter of the MacLaren chieftain of Ardveich and in any case was surprised and mortally wounded by som of the Clan Dougall led by the 10th Chief's wild son Black Alan MacDougall (against whom an Act of Parliament was afterwards passed) and died of wounds in his Castle of Dunstaffnage 20 Dec 1463.
