Robert I, known as The Frisian, was born about 1033 in Flanders.1   The Frisian's father was Earl Baldwin V (The Pious) De Gaunt Of Flanders and his mother was Princess Adela Capet Of France.  His paternal grandparents were Earl Baldwin IV (Fair Beard) De Flanders and Otgive Aachen Of Luxembourge; his maternal grandparents were King Robert II (The Pious) Capet Of France and Princess Constance De Aqu. He had a brother and two sisters, named Baldwin VI, Matilda and Judith.  He was the second youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named William I, Alix and Helena.  He died on October 3rd, 1093 in Kassel,,,Germany.1

‌The Frisian were married in a religious ceremony in 1063.
