Albert I, known as The Pious, was born about 0940.  The Pious' father was King Louis IV (The Exiled) Carolingian Of France and his mother was Princess Gerberga De Saxony Of The Holy Roman Empire.  His paternal grandparents were King Charles III Carolingian Of France and Princess  Elgiva De Wessex Of Saxon England; his maternal grandparents were Emperor Henry I (The Fowler) De Saxony Of The Holy Roman Empire and Saint, Countess Matilda De Ringelheim. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Lothair, Charles, Hildegarde and Matilda.  He was the second oldest of the five children. He had three half-brothers named The Crooked, Martin and Meen.
