Matthew Buchanan

Matthew was born on January 14th, 1788 in Washington, Virginia.¹   Matthew's father was John Buchanan and his mother was Jane Patterson.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Buchanan and Martha McNutt. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Samuel, James, William E, John, Robert, Andrew, Alexander, Martha, Ann, Elizabeth and Nancy.  He was the sixth oldest of the thirteen children.
