Reuben Hunter was born on January 17th, 1887 in Goochland Co., VA. Reuben Hunter's father was Nathaniel James Thurston and his mother was Mary Susan Sharpe. His paternal grandparents were Reuben Thurston and Mildred B. Mahanes; his maternal grandparents were Elizha Sharpe and Mary ?. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James Elisha, John William, Moses Nathaniel, Emma Duke, Esther Lewis, Bettie Edloe, Ada Wash and Mary Turner. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Alonzo Coleman, Drewry Walter Knight and Cora Lee. He died at the age of 84 on March 28th, 1971.-
