John William Thurston 
John William was born on December 15th, 1888 in Goochland Co., VA. John William's father was Nathaniel James Thurston and his mother was Mary Susan Sharpe. His paternal grandparents were Reuben Thurston and Mildred B. Mahanes; his maternal grandparents were Elizha Sharpe and Mary ?. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James Elisha, Reuben Hunter, Moses Nathaniel, Emma Duke, Esther Lewis, Bettie Edloe, Ada Wash and Mary Turner. He was the third youngest of the nine children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Alonzo Coleman, Drewry Walter Knight and Cora Lee. He died at the age of 66 on August 22nd, 1955.-
