Bettie Edloe was born on December 5th, 1876 in Goochland Co., VA. Bettie Edloe's father was Nathaniel James Thurston and her mother was Mary Susan Sharpe. Her paternal grandparents were Reuben Thurston and Mildred B. Mahanes; her maternal grandparents were Elizha Sharpe and Mary ?. She had four brothers and four sisters, named James Elisha, Reuben Hunter, John William, Moses Nathaniel, Emma Duke, Esther Lewis, Ada Wash and Mary Turner. She was the third oldest of the nine children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Alonzo Coleman, Drewry Walter Knight and Cora Lee. She died at the age of 79 on August 22nd, 1956 in Richmond, VA.-
