Reuben was born in 1801 in Goochland Co., VA. Reuben's father was William R. Thurston and his mother was Mary Thurston. His paternal grandparents were William Bailey Thurston and Jean Jones; his maternal grandparents were John Thurston and Martha Weatherspoon. He had a brother and a sister, named William and Susanna. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died about 1856 in Goochland Co., VA.-
