James Elisha Thurston 
James Elisha was born on December 31st, 1884 in Goochland Co., VA. James Elisha's father was Nathaniel James Thurston and his mother was Mary Susan Sharpe. His paternal grandparents were Reuben Thurston and Mildred B. Mahanes; his maternal grandparents were Elizha Sharpe and Mary ?. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Reuben Hunter, John William, Moses Nathaniel, Emma Duke, Esther Lewis, Bettie Edloe, Ada Wash and Mary Turner. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Alonzo Coleman, Drewry Walter Knight and Cora Lee. He died at the age of 65 on December 13th, 1950.-
