Sally Burwell was born on May 8th, 1802 in "Shelly", Gloucester Co., Virginia. Sally Burwell's father was Mann Page and her mother was Elizabeth Nelson. Her paternal grandparents were John Page and Frances Burwell; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Nelson and Lucy Grymes. She had eight brothers and six sisters, named John, Thomas Nelson, Mann, William Nelson, Warner Lewis, Philip Ludwell Grymes, Robert Nelson, Thomas Jefferson, Lucy Mann, Frances Burwell, Eliza Nelson, Mary Jane, Anne and Cornelia Mann. She was the sixth youngest of the fifteen children. She died at the age of 67 in 1869 in "Shelly", Gloucester Co., Virginia.
