Philip Ludwell Grymes was born on September 28th, 1804 in "Shelly", Gloucester Co., Virginia. Philip Ludwell Grymes' father was Mann Page and his mother was Elizabeth Nelson. His paternal grandparents were John Page and Frances Burwell; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Nelson and Lucy Grymes. He had seven brothers and seven sisters, named John, Thomas Nelson, Mann, William Nelson, Warner Lewis, Robert Nelson, Thomas Jefferson, Lucy Mann, Frances Burwell, Eliza Nelson, Mary Jane, Sally Burwell, Anne and Cornelia Mann. He was the fourth youngest of the fifteen children. He died at the age of 19 on April 1st, 1824 in "Shelly", Gloucester Co., Virginia.
