Nathaniel Burwell 
Nathaniel was born about 1680. Nathaniel's father was Lewis Burwell and his mother was Abigail Smith. His paternal grandparents were Lewis Burwell and Lucy Higginson; his maternal grandparents were Anthony Smith and Martha Bacon. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Lewis, Bacon, James, Joanna, Elizabeth, Lucy, Martha, Jane and ?. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Armistead, Mary, Martha and Jane. He died in 1721 in Age 41. He was buried in Abington Church, Gloucester Co., VA.General Notes

Beneath this Tomb Lies the Body of Major Nathaniel Burwell Eldest son of Major Lewis Burwell who by A well regulated Conduct and firm Integrity Justly Established a good Reputation He died in the fory and first Year of His Age leaving behind him three Sons & one Daughter by elizabeth Eldest Daughter of Robert Carter Esq In ye year of our Lord Christ MDCCXXI.
