Launcelot Byrd was born on September 6th, 1813. Launcelot Byrd's father was John Minor and his mother was Lucy Landon Carter. His paternal grandparents were John Minor and Elizabeth Cosby; his maternal grandparents were Landon Carter and Mildred Washington Willis. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named John, Landon Carter, Overton Cosby, Charles Landon Carter, Lewis Willis, Lucius Horatio, James Monroe, (infant) and Mary Berkley. He was the second youngest of the ten children. He had a half-sibling of unknown gender named (infant). He died at the age of 29 on May 29th, 1843 in Cape Palmas, Africa.-
